2018 wedding trends

2018 might be more than halfway through, but there’s still time to incorporate this year’s wedding trends into your big day. Here are our favorites for a totally on-trend wedding this year!

Ultra Violet

2018 is all about ultra violet – according to Pantone. It was revealed earlier this year as the 2018 colour of the year, and has been creeping its way into wedding planning. Ultra violet is said to express boldness, experimentation and thinking outside the box, so it’s the perfect colour if you’re having a non-traditional wedding, or something quirky and unique. Think hues of lilac, purple and violet for your flowers, bridesmaids’ dresses or table decor to add an on-trend touch to your wedding’s colour scheme.

Hanging Floral Installations

Hanging floral installations started to creep their way into weddings late 2017, and they’re sticking around for 2018. Think hanging flowers and greenery above your top table for a bold and dynamic statement that plays around with your venue. Choose flowers in your wedding’s colour scheme and talk to your florist about creating a floral chandelier, or even choose some classic hanging planters for an easier way to adopt this trend.

Copper

We’ve moved on from the rose gold trend onto the more rustic metallic touch of copper. This bright and reflective hue is the colour to choose if you want to add some metallic into your wedding colour scheme, and gives a trendy, industrial effect. Copper is very cheap, so it won’t break your budget to incorporate this into your wedding. Try adding copper lanterns to reflect the candlelight, or even mix it with florals and pastel hues for a feminine look.

Food on display

Wedding food has evolved from the traditional sit down meal into food trucks, dessert tables and all types of comfort foods. Late night snacks have turned into a big wedding food trend for 2018, and couples are turning to their favourite foods and displaying them in unique ways, taking inspiration from last years ‘Doughnut wall’ trend. Think your favourite late night comfort food, and display it in a Pinterest-worthy way to incorporate this trend into your wedding.

Fashion forward

In terms of wedding fashion, 2018 is all about the boho. Relaxed and romantic, bohemian dresses at their best mix different fabrics and finishes to create a floaty, feminine style. We’ve got masses of boho style dresses for sale on Bride2Bride, including this stunning Jenny Packham silk chiffon dress with lace cap sleeves. Take a look today!
